Digital [Independence Day] Savings!

labor-day-flag-fireworks.jpg It’s almost Independence Day and we want to make sure you celebrate your Independence as much as possible! Therefore, we’re offering a discount for ALL of our services. Keep reading for more details!

Throughout the past year and a half, we have been trying to bring Digital Independence to our community. Independence is a sense of freedom, which allows one to live without the feeling that there exists restrictions in life.

Digital Independence strives to bring technology literacy to the Boston / Cambridge community. Through technology literacy we believe that people will overall feel less restricted by their everyday technology. In a developed and urban city such as Cambridge, it is difficult to imagine live without any technology, let alone live without electricity for a few hours.

To emphasize the importance of Digital Independence, and make sure achieving Digital Independence is feasible we’re offering an Independence Day holiday sale. As many customers know, our services are very unique. We make sure that during our services, we let the customer know exactly what is going on with his or her technology issue. We detail the problem and make sure that the customer understands how we fix the problem so that the next time a friend has a similar issue, the customer can use his or her own newly learned skills to help out.

All orders placed between June 29th, 2011 through July 6th, 2011 will receive a 10% discount.

Note: Includes appointments, and appointment-scheduling (appointment may be scheduled outside the range of dates mentioned and still receive the discount, as long as the call, (”order”), is made within the range.

Digital Independence and CIC

Good food and good conversations as the interns and founders got to know one another a little better. As you can see it turned out to be quite a day, what with the nice weather and it being the Annual Tenant Appreciation and Transportation Celebration. We would like to thank CIC once again to graciously providing the space as we look forward to a productive summer.

Project Application Education

As many of you may be aware, this summer Digital Independence will be working with a number of youth, giving them the necessary skills to develop mobile applications. This course will cover all of the fundamentals of programming to get them off the ground and running. Many of these youth own or have used the technology that they will be programming for, giving them a sense of familiarity with their environment. It also helps that their head instructor belongs to the same high school CRLS and has been the captain of some of them on the Track & Field team.

This project is and will remain fairly broad until the end of the summer. No decisions have been made as to what platform they will be learning, nor what types of apps they will be developing. The program will be democratic, allowing each participant to voice his opinions. Any questions about the program can be sent to Tom, and as always, happy deving!

Dear Community,

So much has been going on around us: new technology is invented on a daily basis.

This influx of technology is scary: how do we use this technology? When can I find time to learn how to use it? What happened to the good old days where all I had to do was flick a switch?

Those days are gone. Our life is beginning to depend upon technology; we need technology to help us move further in life. It is what makes our lives easier and simpler to manage, sustain and live.

We recognize that not everyone is able to keep up with rapid advancements in technology but we also realize that if people begin to fall behind with modern technology, how will we progress in life to make even more advanced technology?

We’re here to solve the problem. This summer Digital Independence will offer discounted computer consultation sessions. For one hour a day, one day a week, over a period of 5 weeks- Digital Independence will offer affordable basic computer training. An application for this program can be downloaded by clicking here. This program is open to anyone who wants to catch up on modern technology.

We ask, regardless of your age, gender or race, that you do not fear technology and will help us progress our society.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact us.
Again, the application can be downloaded by clicking this link.

Thanks,
Digital Independence :)

Advance Through Technology With Digital Independence

Technology is rapidly advancing. Recently, President Obama mentioned in the State of the Union address,

Maintaining our leadership in research and technology is crucial to America’s success.

As a non-profit organization with a mission to educate and develop technical skills in everyone, we make sure during our services that customers know exactly what we are doing. We’re out there to make an impact in the lives of our customers. With the rapid advancement of technology, the number of people falling behind, unable to keep up with the advancements, is increasing.

Over our past year of existence, we have noticed how easily frustrated people become when they fall behind. People are left feeling hopeless and decide to give up on technology. We want to make sure this happens to nobody. Not only is technology crucial to America’s success, but day-by-day, it is also becoming more vital to human society. Technology is what allows us to communicate with friends and family across the globe in matter of seconds. What will we do when we run out of oil? What other resource do we have to turn to, but technology? The answer is none. It is our duty to make sure as we make this rapid assimilation into a technology-driven world, that your transition is as smooth as possible.

A recent customer calls himself a “non-technoid,” yet appreciates the computer counseling we were able to provide. What makes Digital Independence stand out over any other computer organization is that we want our customers, whether tech-savvy or not, that Digital Independence is here for them so that when a problem arises, they will not feel restricted to have to make another house-call, spend money and time fixing a problem; Instead, they will have the joy to know that they can fix their own problems, or easily ask for free assistance via Digital Independence.

Recently, we launched Project Refurb. Project Refurb is a cyclic process where we are asking for computer donations, -whether it functions or not. Our job is to refurbish these computers and then send them back out to the community, specifically to those who don’t have resources to purchase their own. We’re asking for your help in joining our mission, to make it possible for everyone to enjoy technology and live their lives with simplicity.

As mentioned, we are now offering free assistance via SMS and email. Digital Independence will provide free answers to appropriate tech-related questions that are sent through text message (6172996934) or through email at question@mydigitalindependence.com. Questions we find are frequently asked, or stand out may be posted in our community blog with expertise answers.
